ANIMAL EMERGENCY AND TREATMENT CENTER

BLOOD DONOR PROGRAM AND BLOOD BANK

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:

Each year, thousands of animal's lives are saved with the use of blood products. At Animal Emergency and Treatment Center, blood component therapy is commonly used for traumatic injuries, parasitic and immune-related disease, for surgical procedures and many other life-threatening problems. As our patient-load grows, our need for quality blood products grows as well. We have developed our blood donor program and blood bank to meet our rising needs as well as those emergent medical needs of area veterinary hospitals. We have the ability to collect, process and store enough blood products to assure you and your veterinarian have access to quality blood products.

HOW CAN YOU AND YOUR PET HELP?

Your healthy pet has the opportunity to save lives. If your pet meets the requirements and you are interested in participating in this life-saving program, simply call or email the Animal Emergency and Treatment Center and we will set up a screening appointment for you and your pet. At the time of screening, your pet will be given a physical exam by one of our staff veterinarians. A small amount of blood will be drawn by our Blood Donor Program staff for laboratory screening and blood typing. At this time, we will also be assessing your pet's reaction to our hospital staff and environment. It is important that your pet be at ease with the us and the procedure.

Most importantly, we use this screening time to answer all of your questions. We want you to know how safe this program is and how appreciative we are for your generosity and efforts. If at any time the process becomes too stressful for you or your pet, we recommend that your pet not be used as a donor.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
